Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Swap.org (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit our website.
1. What we collect
Usage data. When you visit Swap.org, we automatically collect standard server and analytics data, including your IP address, browser type, referring URL, pages viewed, and the time and date of your visit. This data is collected via Google Analytics.
Quote requests. When you request quotes, your selected currency pair, amount, and transaction type (buy/sell/swap) are sent to our server to fetch rates from Partners. We do not persistently store these parameters and do not link them to your identity.
What we do NOT collect. We do not collect your name, email address, wallet address, payment information, or any personally identifiable information unless you contact us directly (see section 6).
2. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- operate and improve the Swap.org website;
- fetch and display rate quotes from Partners;
- monitor site performance and diagnose technical issues; and
- understand aggregate usage patterns (via Google Analytics).
3. Cookies
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies for analytics purposes. Google Analytics places cookies to measure site traffic and user behaviour. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies. Disabling cookies may affect some functionality, but core quote comparison features will continue to work.
4. Third-party partners
To fetch quotes, our server makes requests to Partner APIs on your behalf. These requests include the currency pair, fiat amount, and transaction type you selected. Partner APIs may log these requests according to their own privacy policies.
When you click a quote and are redirected to a Partner’s website, that Partner collects and processes your data in accordance with their own privacy policy. We encourage you to review each Partner’s privacy policy before completing a transaction.
Partners integrated with Swap.org include MoonPay, Transak, Ramp Network, Banxa, Mercuryo, Coinify, BTC Direct, Simplex, Topper, Sardine, Revolut, Coinbase Pay, Binance Connect, Blockchain.com, Unlimit, Stripe Crypto, and Noah.
5. Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers. We use Google Analytics (operated by Google LLC) to analyse site usage. Google may process data in the US and other jurisdictions.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights or safety of Swap.org or others.
6. Data retention
We do not retain quote request parameters beyond the duration of the API call. Google Analytics data is retained according to Google’s standard retention settings (26 months by default).
7. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable data protection law (such as the UK GDPR or EU GDPR) to:
- access personal data we hold about you;
- request correction or deletion of your data;
- object to or restrict processing of your data; and
- lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
Because we collect very limited personal data, most of these rights may not be applicable in practice. To make a request, contact us at hello@swap.org.
8. Children
Swap.org is not directed at children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes are effective when posted, indicated by the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
